Hurricane Sandy Survivor Communication

Brothers of the First, Second and Third Districts ....we praise God for your safety and deliverance from loss of life and for your resilience in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy’s devastating impact in your area. Some states were hit harder than others, but praise God YOU ARE HERE! On behalf of the members of the Life Membership Foundation, we want you to know that you are not alone and that we are here, standing ready to assist with your area’s short and long-term recovery needs.

It is our goal to ensure that you, as survivors of Hurricane Sandy, are informed about accessing federal aid to help start your recovery process. We know that the path to recovery will not be immediate, but we prayerfully encourage you to remain patient, work with government officials and resources that have been made available. We have included the following information to assist you in navigating FEMA to ensure you get the help you need. If you have questions, please contact FEMA at 800-621-3362.

Immediate Shelter Needs

For those who are unable to return home, states, tribes, localities and the Red Cross continue to operate emergency shelters along the East Coast. To search for shelters



To Register for FEMA Assistance

Survivors in declared counties in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut can register for assistance by applying on line at DisasterAssistance.gov or by phone by calling (800) 621-3362 or TTY (800) 462-7585.

Coping with Disaster

Brothers and/or their family members who need crisis counseling and help should contact The Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990. The Helpline is a 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a- week resource that responds to people who need crisis counseling after experiencing a natural or man-made disaster or tragedy.

MESSAGE TO BROTHERS WHO WANT TO ASSIST

Brothers around the Fraternity who want to assist our brothers in need, the Omega Life Membership Foundation is working to create a Hurricane Sandy Fund. This fund will be the platform for accepting and distributing donations from brother so that we can help respond to unmet needs that people may have.
